Your first visit
Your first visit to MIT is called the Intake. It will help us determine which current or possible future studies will be a good fit for you. It also gives you a chance to meet us and to become familiar with our MIT testing environment.
Arrive at MIT
Here is a map of Building 46, which houses the department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences and the McGovern Institute. This is the building you will be going to. We will provide detailed directions whether you are driving or taking public transportation.
We offer free parking and are only a 5 minute walk from public transportation: the T and buses.
One of our researchers will meet you in the parking lot or the lobby entrance, depending on how you arrive at MIT.
Review and Sign Consent Forms
We will review the consent forms with you and answer any questions you have about the intake visit.
Complete Behavioral Assessments
You will be asked to fill out questionnaires and to engage in activities, which may include solving puzzles, answering questions, and completing tasks on a computer.
Timing
We usually schedule your visit for 1.5-2 hours. We schedule the intake visit around your availability. In addition to weekday times we are available during some evening and weekend times as well.
Compensation
You will receive payment in the form of cash, check, or gift card. You will be reimbursed $20 per hour of testing time.
Follow-Up
After your visit we will be in touch to let you know if there are current studies that are a good match for you.
