I'm a neuroscience researcher, based in the Harvard Society of Fellows and the Kanwisher lab at MIT.  People with ASD often have difficulty with social interactions and understanding, but they also have very different experiences of the sensory world (what things in our visual environment look, sound, and feels like).  I'm interested in understanding how the disparate levels of autistic symptomatology -- from sensory to social perception -- relate to each other.  Do they spring from a common root in the brain?  Does one lead to the other?  I hope that my research will ultimately enable us to help individuals who are very sensitive to sensory stimuli and, more broadly, to understand the neurobiology of autism.
